I believe what Doug.W is referring to is a yet-to-be-released
LISTSERV feature called GETPOST.  That feature specifies
item numbers that do NOT require a SEARCH command to
preceed it.  It is the moral equivalent of the /SHIP command
that used to be locally configured at VM1.NODAK.EDU.
