Send this command to the listserv:
set [listname] nomail for [subscriber's address]
 
I always send a note to the subscriber when I do that, with a copy to
postmaster at the user's site.  The note to the subscriber usually
bounces, of course, but sometimes the note gets through to the postmaster,
who can solve the user's problem or let me know if that user's account
has died.
