Some of the new subscribers to the new PRO-CITE list (of which I am the
listowner) received information back from the list's listserv@iubvm that
they had subscribed, but later received an additional message from
[log in to unmask] that:
No LISTSERV distribution list by the name "PROCITE" is known to exist.

Did the uga listserv somehow receive information about the new PRO-CITE
list minus the hyphen so it looked in its list of lists and didn't find one
called PROCITE (with no hyphen)? Or did it somehow just not get informed
about the new list as fast as some new subscribers did? Other
possibilities? Thanks for any suggestions--such mysterious messages are
indeed disconcerting to those just getting brave enough to put their toes
in the swelling ocean of electronic information!

This is NOT a recorded message, really yours,
