I'm sorry to bother you-all, but I REALLY need your assistance with
this:

All I want is to be able to remotely (i.e.; via email. I don't have
an account on the VAX machine, and I don't really want one.) manage
the file list.

I tried to get the filelist to add another file, so I sent
(Dated:7/25/95 & 12:16 PM) the following to our Listserv:

get corgi-l filelist pw=pwd (ctl

THIS is what I got back:

> get corgi-l filelist (ctl
You must obtain a personal password (by means of the PW ADD
command) before trying to GET (CTL format) file "CORGI-L FILELIST".

I THOUGHT I HAD added a password to the 'file management' function
of our Listserv (TAMU - VMS with Listserv v1.8b) list (called
Corgi-L) about 1-2 months ago!

NOW (7/26/95 3:53 PM), when I try to add the same password as
before, I get:

Internal error, PW ADD command cancelled.

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON??!! =:-O I thought that once I'd
established the password, I would have to continue using the same
password; NOT create a new one EACH time I go through the process
of storing a new/updated file to the server.

Am I wrong? Do I have to create a new password for EACH session
(day??!!) where I add or update files that are stored for my list
on the server?

The Remote Owner's guide (which I have and scoured for help)
doesn't say ANYTHING about having to create a new password for EACH
time you do add, update or remove a file from the Listserv. I also
have a copy of FSVOWNER FIL_LIST from UBVM - helpful, but no answer
to the question on how often the password has to be set/
established.

Could it be a problem with the VMS on this specific machine? (TAMU)

Please help! I've got 250 people clamoring for two files - one I
need to replace and a new one I need to store.

I really try to take care of these problems myself; but this one I
just can't figure out! The ONLY thing I can think of is that the
TAMU Listserv has a problem somewhere; but I don't have the
privileges, knowledge or account on the machine to make any needed
changes. Chris, the Listserv postmaster, is part of this list and
we're both hoping someone can help us!!

Thanks for ANY assistance you can provide.

p.s. Please respond DIRECTLY to me. I get the digest version of the
list and don't always have time to read the digests. (Isn't work
supposed to SLOW DOWN in the summer!?! =:-O )
