Okay. That was it. I don't understand why, but it works, so thanks very
much. I still have a few hours of editing ahead of me to remove the extra
line.
So the rule is not just 73 equal signs, but that and no blank between it
and the header lines. I'm assuming that the order of the header lines isn't
critical, as I see that they are in a variety of orders.

I am not aware of EXPLODE/MOVE and fully realize that the old-style
DATABASE is obsolete. The commands that I miss are AFD/FUI and STATS as you
note, but even more GIVE and PACKAGE which you don't note.
I suspect many listowners are unfamiliar with these commands and don't know
what advantages they're missing.
