you may want to suggest they use a free account like
mine at yahoo. (NOT hotmail)

they can access it from anywhere on the net. they will
be able to keep their list messages from filling their
normal mailbox they will cut the spam load down on
their normal mailbox, can change it at will if they
start having too much spam, and since the messages and
address book are kept on yahoo's computer, they have
added a layer of worm protection etc.

and you will not have to deal with aol or hotmail.
