I have written a quick EXEC which uses pipe to display the number of
error messages from a certain node.  By default it shows nodes with
greater than 10 messages but you can change this by typing SPAM number
(spam = name of exec......couldn't think of a better one at the time).
 
Doesn't delete them or such, but just gives you a count.  If anyone would
care to look at it you can WWW it http://ua1vm.ua.edu/~jford/spam.exec
