I thought that I should clarify that to a large extent compumed is a
very happy peaceful list which has not experienced any abusive users.
We exchange mainly technological data about health care and computer
applications with a view to setting international standards and making
available the lastest information about virtual reality, disability
and 4 other related topics. There is not an exceptional amount of
discussion except for the exchange of information from around the
world and the posting of requests for MRI images etc or information
about rare diseases. So, this is a very contented list because most of
the content is not very controversial but scientific. When I read the
listserver protocol from Paris while I was preparing my first
electronic conference in Europe, I understood this to be the purpose
for developing listserver software and followed the protocol quite
closely even to the point of deleting all information which might be
construed as advertising except for the price where it had some
bearing on accessibility of the hardware or software. We are
relatively speaking a genteel and learned group: I have always
discouraged flaming and shifts from our topics, but this
seldom happens. The listserver with which I am associated has 20 lists and
excellent facilities, but is not located in the same country. This has
made theproblems all the more frustrating. Thanks for any advice or
suggestions in advance. --Paul
