You can't do that, but the  message range is not absolutely necessary, it
is mostly a performance thing. It  saves some cycles for LISTSERV to know
in advance what range you're interested in.  Since I had the info at hand
and the job skeleton was going to be cryptic anyway, I figured I might as
well include it. But it doesn't make a big difference.
