Can't claim much experience, because my list is small and new, but it
requires the owner's approval for a subscription, and it has been no
problem yet. The list is for a journalism group with a membership list or
people with similar professional involvement. It's easy to check if a
request is from a member. If not, I simply message back asking the
requesters professional interest in the subject matter. Had no response
from the three or so current list hoppers, nor any flak from anybody
rejected for lack of moderately persuasive credentials. How much time it
would take for a busy list, though, I can't tell. HTH. Phineas Fiske,
