I believe this error is specific to non-current versions of sendmail and
has different causes.  I *think* it's saying that an RFC821 dialogue was
started but the associated text portion, the actual mail, isn't/wasn't stored
on the local (?) disk.  If I sound clueless it's only because I am; I've
heard this question a lot lately, echoed it, fed it into Google, but failed
to hear or find a satisfying answer ;-)
