I discovered that when I try to quote a message and include what had
been its headr in a message I send to my list, blind-l, I get the

headers pointing to list, e.g. sender, from or reply-to point to the
list error message from the listserv.

When I edited the rejected message using q-edit on my pc, I discovered 3
or 4 control a characters on a line immediately above the message i had
quoted.

OK I have some questions:

1. Is it the control a (decimal 001) characters that signal mail and
listserv the lines following are rfc-822 headers and not just plain
text?

2. Is it a good practice when quoting a message to just ensure the
control-a characters are removed? Or should I prefix the lines which
were headers in the message being quoted with

comment:?

I may have found the reason why some but not all mail sites consistently
get mail they send to my list and quote another message with headers
flagged as a possible delivery error as there are sender, reply-to or
from: lines pointing to the list and other people do it all the time and
have no problems.

It is amazing the things you can sometimes discover either by accident
or without knowing what you are looking for.
