Exactly what do you mean by "real-time" the conference?
 
Do you mean, "...everyone logs on at the same (GMT) time, and submits
messages to LISTSERV..."?
 
Or, are you thinking of some "talk/chat" style of interaction,
where email is not an intervening mediator of the messages?
 
Or were you meaning "...post updates/summaries of what is going on
at the on-physical-location conference site, and perhaps allow for
email feedback to the conferees from the list"?
