Deleting file from a filelist

I'm trying to delete a file from a filelist.  Files are stored on a
separate disk - here is the start of the FILEID file
 
   2
   *DEFAULT* X5/300
   NSPI NO17 00000001 AAUP-L H5/300
 
If I do a LSVPUT NSPI NO17 ( DELETE, it says it can't find NSPI NO17 A.  Get
the same message if I add a FILELIST AAUP-L.  How can I delete the file?
