According to the tables in use by MAILER@BINGVMB (actually, in use by
most BITNET sites), the server SMTPUSER@UTAHCCA is the BSMTP-gateway
to the UVCC.EDU domain. So, the E-mail will travel over BITNET to this
gateway, and then will be delivered to the Internet address.

The SMTP server could not resolve the name 'CC.UVCC.EDU'
to an Internet address.

The Internet "alias" for the BITNET node named 'UTAHCCA' ???
(It's not important to this analysis.)

BITNET host which sent the original, i.e., problem-causing, mail.

Let's use the NSLOOKUP utility to examine all the data-records held by one of
the name-servers for the 'UVCC.EDU' (Utah Valley Community College) domain.
Especially, note that the user 'MILLERJA' is (allegedly) on the 'CC' machine.

Note that the 'CC' machine is **only** listed within the 'USU.EDU'
(Utah State University) domain. I also checked, and there are **no**
"nickname" (CNAME) records for the 'CC.UVCC.EDU' host.
This host should, but does **not**, appear in the '192.<something>'
part of the list. Therefore, it is an "illegal" hostname.
Late-breaking news! Just prior to sending this note, I re-issued the query
to the name-server. According to this query, the host 'CC.UVCC.EDU'
is a nickname for the 'UVMAIN.UVCC.EDU' host. So, between the first failure,
and a few minutes ago, the problem has been corrected!
The system-administrator at UVCC (Vern Cole <[log in to unmask]>)
must have updated the nameserver database! Thanks, Vern!!
