The note is certainly useful, but I agree it's confusing.
How about adding text to the note stating that the file will arrive later
under separate cover?
 
I have 1300 users who are on BITNET, but receive
mail only on their PC's.  Most have never seen an IBM mainframe.
The current wording does confuse them the first time
they encounter it.  Invariably they will call me reporting that the file
they ordered must have been lost by my gateway, since they have a
confirmation that the file was sent, but it's not in their cc:Mail
mailbox yet.
