First off, you really should look into fixing your line length, it's hard
to read that way.

As for your statement, I just don't get it. Personal passwords have been
around for ages, independant of lists/list owners. A personal password
works across the entire system, and is not tied to a list. As a list
owner, I could care less if my subscribers set themselves up with
passwords, because it doesn't affect me and may not even affect my list.
Personal passwords are as much a "right" of a subscriber as setting
themselves to MIME. It just doesn't matter.

Don't forget, there are other reasons for requiring a password on the web
interface. Lists with private archives is the big thing that most
subscribers will use it for.
