To prevent potential bugs from causing loops, LISTSERV generally refuses
to process "unexpected" files from itself. That is, when LISTSERV sends a
file to itself with intent to later process it, it sets a flag in the
file descriptor and, if the flag is not present, it later refuses to
process the file. Such files can be created even without bugs if the
server is abruptly stopped while it was preparing a file for some user.
If you GIVE a file to LISTSERV or to a list, this is not something
expected and the file is rejected. However you should be able to have the
file in question *mailed* to the list, by specifying F=MAIL on the AFD
command.
