Further complication:

Users who did register a nameID should have been notified in late
December that it was activated for use. Although the new nameID was
accepted for inbound (and internal) email, the From: line on outbound
internet email still had the users numericID ([log in to unmask])

What has happened in the few days is that the From: line now shows the
nameID. This was NOT announced by Compuserve. But changing the user's
From: line has serious consequences for LISTSERV subscribers...

To further complicate the problem, Compuserve users who have not (yet)
registered a nameID, are still showing a numericID for their From:
address. Thus Compuserve is in the midst of a big changeover. Nothing
has been announced if all remaining users will be forced to adopt
nameID's or how (or even if) these will be chosen for them if they don't
chose their own nameID.

So it will be a bit of a mess for awhile. Since this is an
administrative fiasco perpetrated on innocent users by the evil overlords
at Compuserve, List Owners are admonished to act benevolently in aiding
their helpless subscribers. May the Force be with you! =8-)
