Folks ...

I'm a new member here, forgive me if this has been covered (couldn't find
it in the archives).

The daily error report for our list often has errors like this:

  7 03/22 03/25 "xxxxxxxx" <[log in to unmask]>
                Last error: Mailer mail.strat.net said: "550 5.7.1
                            <[log in to unmask]>... Relaying
                            denied"

In many cases the errors are for people who are regular and current or
very recent list participants, and who continue to post after these errors
are reported. Some are for the other list owner (there are two of us)!

What's going on here? Why do some messages to these folks get through
whereas others apparently don't?

Note I do understand what relaying is, in general. What I don't
understand is why LISTSERV is using it, and why it seems to be implementde
in a way that will work sometimes and fail other times, for the same
address.

Thanks for any insights.
