You could selectively try one of the alternative LOOPCHECK settings (see
here for details
<http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/1.8e/sitemgr/listkeyw.html#kLoopcheck>).

Note that altering it to anything other than LOOPCHECK=FULL can cause a
situation that'll seriously test your threshold for self-inflicted pain.
Make these changes at your own risk.
