The absolute easiest way to edit these templates is via the web interface if the host
has the 1.8d version installed.  That includes banners and even the welcome/farewell
files that aren't in the default or list MAILTPL.  All the special coding needed is
beautifully explained in the files Ben listed above... both of which [for 1.8d and 1.8c]
can be accessed and browsed or downloaded from

The web interface is to me.. one of the best parts of 1.8d .. no way I'd use email for
List MAILTPL with that available.
