It is the posting from *@yahoo.com addresses that causes the problem when
the mail passes through and is resent LISTSERV.

Yes, but ONLY if the original From: address (which LISTSERV does not alter
in any way) is From: *@yahoo.com.  

You have the choice of preventing (or moderating) postings that come From:
*@yahoo.com (typically 10% or so of your subscribers) or, you can use NOMAIL
to turn off outgoing mail to even more of your subscribers (typically about
60% to 75% of your total subscribers).  

The choice is yours, and how you run your list is up to you, but it seems to
me that it is better to prevent (or moderate) postings from the 10% than to
shut off 75%.  YMMV.
