To force the premature distribution of a DIGEST or INDEX
(assuming you are already set to one of those options) before
a vacation, the current method is to issue the following
two listserv commands (in the order shown)
 
SET listname MAIL
SET listname NOMAIL
 
Don't know if this advice will be followed after what ERIC has
just posted.
