Douglas,

Your patron has two ways in which to create and apply a rule to
automatically trash mail from certain senders (aka the "twit
filter").

1. This is easier to do than to explain. Once he gets started, he
can probably follow it through to the end. While he is viewing
e-mail from that person, he can go to the Tool Bar and click on
"Organize". The second line there says "Create a rule to move new
messages (here he will get a series of fields)

the first field contains a drop-down list that default to "from" so
he can go right on

the second field contains the area where he inserts the name of the
offender, and Outlook has automatically placed the e-mail address of
that person in this field - if it looks right, go on to the next
field

the third field is where you select the destination for all this
mail, and in my Outlook I have to drop down the list and select
"Other Folder" and then select the "Deleted Items" folder. Then
click on "Create". The program will then offer to not only create
the rule, but also run it on all your current mail. Accept or
decline as you wish.

This should work from then on, unless the perp likes to use a
variety of e-mail addresses. Just run the Organize function again on
each one.

2. He can go to Tools and select the Rule Wizard, which will step
him through the procedure. I was not familiar with many of the
choices that were offered, and at first I found the Organize tool
easier to use.

I was also going to suggest that this is a good time to teach your
subscriber how to use "Help" but Outlook seems to dance around this
one. I tried any number of keywords that would bring up a nice set
of instructions. While one or two eventually worked, the keywords
also brought up many other, entirely unrelated, actions. You have to
know what you're doing to find help on this one, unfortunately.
