Isn't this what should happen normally?  If your list is set to private,
like mine is, I need to actually call up the list archive page on my
browser.  Something like

http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/faceblind.html

You will note, for example, that if you go to

http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/index.html

my list is not listed there.  But perhaps this is because I have my list
header set to only allow private access of notebooks...
