That strange silence is probably attributable to the commemorations of the
50th anniversary of V-E (Victory in Europe), plus, to a minor extent,
good weather, which reminds people that there's life beyond their keyboards.
 
Of course, you can check the various "outage" mailing-lists on BITNET,
for announcements of scheduled outages.  This weekend is the first
weekend after the official end of my university's winter-session,
which also marks an end to the "freeze" on the computer's configuration,
which is mandated upon us by the administration.  So, a "window" to making
changes has briefly opened.
