I will echo Good Ol' Pete and Dan Wheeler in that the central
question is "why?" here.  What is the result desired?
 
Reminds me of occaisions in the past when people have suggested
that Eric change the code in a specific way to do this or that which
generally won't work.  The best responses, other than Eric's describing
the flaws, have been those saying "describe the result you want, not
how you think it should be done."  Same sort of thing.
 
As to Dan's daily SET listname MAIL FOR *@* , what if you have digest
and index subscribers?  And if you have RENEW the resetting of everyone's
sub every day will make hash of the renew process.
 
I've already expressed my views on keeping a list perpetually locked.
 
Again, the question is WHY?
