I have noticed that it takes from two to three minutes for our LISTSERV server to distribute a message sent to a list comprising about ten subscribers. As we are still testing LISTSERV before we make it available to our user community, there is virtually no traffic through this server at the moment, just two very low-volume lists plus my test list (with one subscriber). The server is a fairly speedy machine: a Dell 6350 PowerEdge with dual 550MHz Xeon processors, 1 GB of RAM, and a PERC2 hardware raid controller running Windows NT Server 4.0, SP6a and hotfixes. Is this sort of delay common? What would people recommend for testing and tuning the performance of LISTSERV and LSMTP on this server? -- Kevin Williams Fermilab PC Support Group
