Most of the subscribers who receive this treatment can figure out what happened by way of the notification that Listserv sends out whenever I do this. What's more, I also have a reminder appended to each of my list's mail messages. This reminder tells people how to sign off the list and it refers them to the list's web site if they want to see archived postings and change their subscription options while they're away. I also send out an administrative style message every other month or two, particularly in the summer and holiday seasons to remind people to set their subscription options to NOMAIL if they intend to use a vacation program while they are out of town. This works pretty well.
