My own list works very much like a self-moderated list, i.e. subscriber posts go to the list directly, non-subscriber posts are moderated. I also impose a limit of posts per subscriber per day. Here's how I do it: Send= Public Default-Options= REVIEW Daily-Threshold= 100,6 Default-Options= REVIEW applies to non-subscriber posts as well as new subscribers, so it's just like Send=Editor [log in to unmask],(listname) as far as post from non-subscribers go. The one difference is that I do have to set each new subscriber to NOREVIEW before they can post freely to the list. However, I prefer to have the opportunity to moderate each person's first post anyway, given that some spammers like to subscribe-post-signoff to private lists. So having to set individuals to NOREVIEW is not a downside to me. If you see it as a downside, you could always set up a script that sends a QUIET SET listname NOREVIEW FOR *@* every day from your email address, so that subscribers are on review for at most one day.
