Question: Can I use a list exit for this OK.. I'll bite. What problem are you trying to solve here? Note that if they're subscribers, they've *seen* the postings already (unless they're a new subscriber and they're looking for an old posting). Many people keep their own archives of lists, or at least postings they found useful/worth keeping. My lstsrv-l archive has soe 1,115 postings I've kept for one reason or another. And there's *no* way to prevent those "certain subscribers" from just asking somebody *else* on the list from searching as well, or just a "Did you keep the note about XYZ?" query. If it's in your archive, a determined user can find it. If it was posted to the list, you have to assume that a subscriber can get a copy. Applying technological solutions to social problems rarely works. Now, could you explain the problem you're trying to solve by restricting searching the archives, in more detail?
