I use Netscape Messenger primarily, and in this day and age I usually have the "View attachments inline" option turned off, which prevents any HTML from being displayed automatically upon viewing the message. I don't know if other mail clients provide such an option -- if they don't, the recommended change makes sense in my opinion. It would at least give list owners some added peace of mind, and it seems it would make the behavior of the NOHTML option more consistent. (Although L-Soft does document the reason why this setting doesn't affect single-part HTML mailings.)
