What does one do with these annoying things? I can't make head nor tails out of the gobbledy gook that is their contents. Is there actually useful information in this thing? I found a couple of paragraphs in the site managers manual that tells me there is loop checking, that the antispam feature is built into the loop checking, but I'm not seeing (which may be my problem) anything that tells one how to make sense of this mess. I also find some info in the owner's manual about how quoting causes problems. Are there instructions anywhere that could give me a clue? Yes, I'm out of my depth here. Thanks for whatever patience you can manage for my thashing. John, who is ready to just filter the bloody things into the trash can and forget they exist. *** begin example *** Subject: ListServ Error Report - Loop Detected To: [log in to unmask], [log in to unmask] >From owner-kkytbs-l Thu Oct 11 08:49:33 2001 Received: from smtp.umr.edu (mrelay.cc.umr.edu [131.151.1.89]) via ESMTP by listserv.cc.umr.edu (8.12.0.Beta19/L.3.00) id f9BDnXNT024204; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:33 -0500 Received: from listserv.cc.umr.edu ([log in to unmask] [131.151.1.30]) via ESMTP by mrelay.cc.umr.edu (8.9.3/R.4.20) id IAA07065; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:31 -0500 Received: from listserv.cc.umr.edu ([log in to unmask] [131.151.1.30]) via ESMTP by listserv.cc.umr.edu (8.12.0.Beta19/L.3.00) id f9BD1IQ3022559; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:31 -0500 Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:31 -0500 From: "L-Soft list server at University of Missouri - Rolla (1.8d)" <[log in to unmask]> Subject: KKYTBS-L: error report from UMR.EDU To: KKY/TBS chapters at UMR <[log in to unmask]>, [log in to unmask], Robert Becho <[log in to unmask]> X-LSV-ListID: None The enclosed message, found in the KKYTBS-L mailbox and shown under the spool ID 29865 in the system log, has been identified as a possible delivery error notice for the following reason: mail origin seems to be a LISTSERV server. ------------------------ Message in error (206 lines) ------------------------- Received: from smtp.umr.edu (mrelay.cc.umr.edu [131.151.1.89]) via ESMTP by listserv.cc.umr.edu (8.12.0.Beta19/L.3.00) id f9BDnUNT024186; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:30 -0500 Received: from listserv.cc.umr.edu ([log in to unmask] [131.151.1.30]) via ESMTP by mrelay.cc.umr.edu (8.9.3/R.4.20) id IAA07016; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 Received: from listserv.cc.umr.edu ([log in to unmask] [131.151.1.30]) via ESMTP by listserv.cc.umr.edu (8.12.0.Beta19/L.3.00) id f9BD1IQ1022559; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 From: "L-Soft list server at University of Missouri - Rolla (1.8d)" <[log in to unmask]> Subject: BANDLIST: error report from UMR.EDU To: Donald Miller <[log in to unmask]>, KKY/TBS chapters at UMR <[log in to unmask]>, [log in to unmask], Ryan Schaecher <[log in to unmask]>, Shelly Plank <[log in to unmask]> X-LSV-ListID: None The enclosed message, found in the BANDLIST mailbox and shown under the spool ID 29863 in the system log, has been identified as a possible delivery error notice for the following reason: "Message/Delivery-Status" body part found in the message body. ------------------------ Message in error (187 lines) ------------------------- Received: from listserv.cc.umr.edu ([log in to unmask] [131.151.1.30]) via ESMTP by listserv.cc.umr.edu (8.12.0.Beta19/L.3.00) id f9BD1IPx022559; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 Received: from smtp.umr.edu (mrelay.cc.umr.edu [131.151.1.89]) via ESMTP by listserv.cc.umr.edu (8.12.0.Beta19/L.3.00) id f9BDnINT024160; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 Received: from localhost (localhost) via internal by mrelay.cc.umr.edu (8.9.3/R.4.20) id IAA06972; Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 Date: Thu, 11 Oct 2001 08:49:18 -0500 From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <[log in to unmask]> Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Returned mail: User unknown Auto-Submitted: auto-generated (failure) X-Report-Type: Nondelivery; boundary="> Error description:" An error was detected while processing the enclosed message.
