An owner here add over 200 of our list names as subscribers to his list hoping to reach a large audience. My first thought was that this was foolish but couldn't hurt much since most of our lists are either private or send=owner. However, it appears that the error messages, generated by listserv are, in fact, posted to the various lists, which recursively causes *huge* problems. I'll use real names so I am not confused. This is how it appears to me: L-QUANTUM-JUJITSU is the list that has other lists as subscribers. A note is posted to it, then in turn sent to the other lists as well as the "real" subscribers. The other lists send a note back to L-QUANTUM-JUJITSU saying they either rejected it or are sending it on to their moderator. L-QUANTUM-JUJITSU accepts this mail from [log in to unmask] and posts it to its subscribers. Now this new note, being from [log in to unmask] is accepted by the other lists and gets posted to all of its subscribers. Here are the headers from one note: Received: from f05n16 (f05s16.cac.psu.edu [128.118.141.59]) by f05n16.cac.psu.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id OAA38858; Mon, 18 Feb 2002 14:18:20 -0500 Received: from LISTS.PSU.EDU by LISTS.PSU.EDU (LISTSERV-TCP/IP release 1.8d) with spool id 76679 for [log in to unmask]; Mon, 18 Feb 2002 14:18:17 -0500 Received: from f05n16 (f05s16.cac.psu.edu [128.118.141.59]) by f05n16.cac.psu.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id OAA90894 for <[log in to unmask]>; Mon, 18 Feb 2002 14:18:13 -0500 Message-ID: <[log in to unmask]> Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2002 14:18:13 -0500 Reply-To: "L-Soft list server at LISTS.PSU.EDU (1.8d)" <[log in to unmask]> Sender: Quantum Jujitsu Seminars and Schedules <[log in to unmask]> From: "L-Soft list server at LISTS.PSU.EDU (1.8d)" <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Message ("Your message dated Mon, 18 Feb 2002 14:19:07...")
