I recently set up the free LISTSERV light for a small non-profit. Seems to work fine EXCEPT for a constant barrage of messages from cherry.ease.lsoft.com, which according to the headers, originated at peach.ease.lsoft.com. The set up has a Microsoft Exchange 2000 server sitting between the world and my LISTSERV, with both NAT'd behind a firewall. Here is the SMTP log for the message coming into Exchange: 2002-11-13 00:41:14 209.119.0.109 cherry.ease.lsoft.com SMTPSVC1 MHBSERVER 192.168.1.5 0 EHLO - +cherry.ease.lsoft.com 250 0 330 26 0 SMTP - - - - 2002-11-13 00:41:14 209.119.0.109 cherry.ease.lsoft.com SMTPSVC1 MHBSERVER 192.168.1.5 0 MAIL - +FROM:<> 250 0 27 36 0 SMTP - - - - 2002-11-13 00:41:14 209.119.0.109 cherry.ease.lsoft.com SMTPSVC1 MHBSERVER 192.168.1.5 0 RCPT - +TO:<[log in to unmask]> 250 0 43 40 0 SMTP - - - - 2002-11-13 00:41:16 209.119.0.109 cherry.ease.lsoft.com SMTPSVC1 MHBSERVER 192.168.1.5 0 DATA - <[log in to unmask]> 250 0 131 1802 484 SMTP - - - - 2002-11-13 00:41:16 209.119.0.109 cherry.ease.lsoft.com SMTPSVC1 MHBSERVER 192.168.1.5 0 QUIT - cherry.ease.lsoft.com 0 2203 67 4 0 SMTP - - - - That looks pretty normal, except for the missing From. This is causing a "non-delivery report" (NDR) and, since the from is no good, it then lands in the "bad mail" area. I am getting many, many of these each and every day. What's going on? I don't think I even want the messages, but I know I don't want all of the failures and bad mail. /s/ MarkB Mark H Bramhall, CTO, CodeLab Technology Group [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] tel: +1-781-213-6917 fax: +1-781-213-6908
