We've had our old listserve (1.8d on VM/CMS) knocked out of commission every day this week. With errors like the following in the console log: DMSSMN109S Virtual storage capacity exceeded DMSABN148T System abend 80A called from 008EED5A reason code 00000000 CMS DMSFRO159E Insufficient storage available to satisfy free storage request from 0 0AE4E98 18 Sep 2003 08:59:48 >>> Error X'0018000B' opening file "PERMVARS NEWFILE A1" << < 18 Sep 2003 08:59:48 -> Severity: Error 18 Sep 2003 08:59:48 -> Facility: DMSFREE/CMSSTOR OBTAIN 18 Sep 2003 08:59:48 -> Abstract: Insufficient storage available 18 Sep 2003 08:59:48 -> I/O mode: Block write We upped the cylinder space on the machine and put the virtual storage up as high as it will go, but it's still crashing intermittently with the same errors. Does the PERMVARS every get reset? It is the largest file on the server, and with spam increasing I understand why the file has grown so large. I realize this is not a file you want to mess with. Does anyone have any ideas of what else to do to fix this? We are trying to get converted over to the NT Listserve, and on the bright side, these problems might at least convince people to free up my time for the conversion. Thanks for whatever theories, etceteras you all might have. ________________________________________ Garrie Burr, Postmaster Administrative Information Systems Washington University in St. Louis 314.935.4698 [log in to unmask]
