What mailbox - the mailbox identified by the FROM value in the message generated by the application. How close are you to the people who manage/operate this mysterious application? How willing are they to share nitty-gritty details with you about what it does (at least in terms of generating email)? Will they make a tiny update so "the application" sends the email directly to you, instead of to the list, so you can really see all the fine details of what it is generating? Since you have already tested the list, by sending to it from elsewhere, suspicion is strongly pointed toward "the application" being the origin of your difficulty. Do not allow yourself to get caught up in the "nothing changed" gambit, since obviously something somewhere DID change or you wouldn't be dealing with this problem behavior. What level of access do you have to the list host server, can you see the LISTSERV log file directly? Can you see the mailer log file that LISTSERV sends/receives mail through? Would you share with us the details from those log files for the time when "the application" has generated a message and the list owner has received a notification about it? Your site is running an older version (show license yields Version: 1.8e ) and that explains why you can't do SERVE LIST, that syntax was introduced in a later release. Another idea, that may be simplest depending on how busy your site is - stop the LISTSERV process, have the application generate a message, then go find the item in either the mailer queue or the LISTSERV spool directory (which one would depend on the details of mailer and environment you have) and examine it closely. >>> [log in to unmask] 8/12/2005 2:28:22 PM >>> SERVE LIST syntax does not work. What mailbox and where? Yes, the message is really being sent to [log in to unmask] I can sned from a private email account successfully. The error occurs sending from the application to the list and the correct mail content only gets sent to the owner after the below error occurs. And, based on what you've included below, is "the application" in fact generating messages addressed to "[log in to unmask]" rather than the usual list address (not "-request")? What is the FROM address in the application-generated messages, and have you looked in that mailbox to see what is being sent there? To see who has been served off, submit a SERVE LIST command, but there is some chance that only works for the Postmaster, I'm not sure about that point.
