The address owner-*@... is reserved for error bounces.  Although in this case
that may get forwarded to the Site Admin, it is not a reliable way to reach
them.  A somewhat more reliable way to reach the LISTSERV site admin is (just
like listname-request@...) write to listserv-request@...  Unfortunately if
your LISTSERV instance is hosted on a unix platform, this address will not
work unless the Site Admin manually creates the necessary email alias.  

Finally, you could send the command SHOW VERSION or RELEASE to LISTSERV@...

This will return the following:
