Since version 16, I let my list owners do it themselves ("it" being "delete a posted message from the archives"). 

On list home page, click the message
​ log​
  of interest.  Now you see a row for each message in the log.  On  the right 
​of​
each row is a trash can.  Click the trash can to remove the message from the log.
