A number of our more active Announce Only lists (Send=Editor, Hold, Confirm, All) have been getting hammered since mid-January. I think our solution is going to be a wholesale change from Editor to Owner (,Confirm) for all of our lists. We’ve already unplugged most of the feedback LISTSERV gives to unauthorized users but the spammers have a long memory it seems. If my real concern were just non-members would Send= Editor,Hold,Confirm,Non-Member Send= (listname) Would this allow members to post, but block non-members unless approved? ________________________________ From: LISTSERV Site Administrators' Forum <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>> on behalf of Nathan Brindle <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>> Sent: Friday, March 06, 2015 12:31 PM To: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Subject: Re: requests to post sent to Editor Add “,Non-Member” to the Editor= setting. E.g., Send= Editor,Hold,Confirm,Non-Member Makes unsubscribed senders confirm their own messages before they are forwarded to the editor. Note that you MUST also specify “,Confirm” with “,Non-Member” if it is not already specified. That requires Editors to confirm their own postings as well, which is a feature every moderated list should utilize (IMHO). http://www.lsoft.com/manuals/16.0/listkeyw.html#kSend Nathan From: LISTSERV Site Administrators' Forum [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Larry Finch Sent: Friday, March 06, 2015 12:09 PM To: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> Subject: Re: requests to post sent to Editor We implemented spam filters in postfix, which we could do because we control the Linux server in addition to listserv.
