(replacing ‘nameoflist’ with the name of the mailing list) and it can be issued by going under ‘List Management’ to ‘LISTSERV Command’ in LISTSERV’s web interface.

This command sets all the existing subscribers to SUBJECTHDR, while the ‘Default-Options= SUBJECTHDR’ command means that any new subscribers will automatically get this option set, so you’ll need both if you want all subscribers, including current and future subscribers, to get the option.

There might be a user who has already changed his/her list default to one of the other SET options  e.g., FULLHDR.  Issuing the command obviously will set that user's options, too.

You could issues various

Q listname WITH option FOR *@*

for those options that are NOT the current default (implicit or explicit) to see if you will need to manually set back to that option after the MASS SET.

Of course if your users are not LISTSERV literate, then this simply is an exercise in LISTSERV SET commands.
