Hi Larry.  We have 300+ lists, and we are definitely keeping Listserv.

Listserv has been a true workhorse for the past 25+ years that

We’ve been running it. Much gratitude to Eric & the Lsoft team for all

The upgrades & support over the years.

We are only closing that particular list because the group identity

has changed (from exclusively Registrars to include Collections personnel).

This corresponds to an organizational change in the AAM (American

Alliance of Museums). So we are moving everyone over to the new list.

Yes, Pete, the SEARCH function is marvelous and we use it extensively.

But administratively I will have to close the list over the next 2 years.

I’m just trying to map a migration plan for their archives.

Thanks for the replies.

I got the impression that the listserv that hosts this list will be no more. If that’s correct then you can’t really use listserv to search the archives.

This begs the question as to why the current LISTSERV (R) notebook SEARCH function (web- or mail- based) is not sufficient?  Search fields include dates, from, subject, and free form text (boolean).
