Got it. Sounds okay to me; a 5-minute delay or even a 30-minute delay is no problem; especially if it's only on new IPs. I agree that I hadn't noticed the implementation.

We have now been running postgrey (http://postgrey.schweikert.ch/) on our umn.edu for more than a month. A new IP will see a delay of 5 minutes. IPs will then be added to the database and further email from this IP will not be grey listed.  We have not had a single user notice that we implemented this process.  (We exclude local IPs from being grey listed. We believe this has helped us somewhat dramatically in stopping the spammers at the door.)

This is of direct concern to me as I run several lists through the U of MN listserv server -- and those lists include lots of non-U of MN subscribers.

What are the potential implications for non-U of MN subscribers with use of postgrey?

What are the implications for list subscribers from outside UMN.EDU? and do they know it? e.g., maybe it is sufficient for UMN.EDU subscribers and not necessary (or perhaps not desirable) for non-UMN.EDU?

Hello, We are running postgrey on our incoming email servers, except the listserv server. We are planning to begin using this on our listserv server soon. We will either share a grey list database with our other servers, or set one up for use exclusively by the listserv server.
