I am a bit confused about the ListServ DIGEST function.

In the List configuration, under Distribution, there is a Digest function. The help text states:

"The list owner decides whether digests are available or not, the frequency at which they are issued, and the day of week or time of day when the digest should be distributed."

However, list subscribers are able to configure Subscription Type "Digest", irrespective of whether the list owner has configured digests.

What happens if the list owner did not configure Digest, but the subscriber does? Is the subscriber setting ignored? Or is there some built-in Digest function that works irrespective of the list configuration?
