I'm not intending to say we should change it now. I was first trying to understand why it was made the way it is. Secondly I felt some reaction was coming along the lines of "that could not work". Certainly it won't work with existing programs, and with it all in place now, the change is just not worthwhile. Just as the first LISTSERV was implemented to solve current needs, so, too, does this version of LISTSERV. Someday those needs will outgrow this LISTSERV and something new will be needed. Perhaps GRAND will be what we need and will be working by then. If not, maybe something new will be needed. However, I see the useful life of this LISTSERV being at least as long as the original LISTSERV, if not longer.
