As per Thomas' note - HERE, HERE! I agree, the 5 minute jobs are becoming my job entirely! Yes, yes, I understand the benefits and I am not one who can really complain except for the fact that I have just received part of the updates and will not be able to perform the updates because I am leaving town until Tuesday to be with my newborn Nephew. I too would be a tad perterbed if LISTSERV crashed here and came back on Tuesday to find that the Director, Assistant Director, Systems Manager and fellow workers were peeling themselves from the ceiling because the local lists we have are not operational because the machine killed itself from an outside source. Someone else mentioned something about system security and the like. I would tend to agree that although it is Eric's program, and &^%$^%$#@ great one at that, we should consider a more intelligent approach to resolving mis-levelled software. I really don't even feel comfortable with taking the back-leveled sites off the back bone of listserv - it does not seem to be fair to me. Eric, I understand your dilemma, but I guess I am a bit of an optimist in thinking that there must be a better solution. I am also curious as to whether or not you still intend to distribute the new PEERS list on monday after all the discussion today that kind of says "we wish you would not". If we could solve this problem - then it could be a general to the maintenance and distribution of NETWORK software. And the time seems right do it. Nobody asked - just my opinion. - Michael Gettes, Boston University
