PEERS NAMES is part of CONTROL FILELIST which is peered to the BACKBONE sites only. The backbone sites are very clearly defined and registered. If you give me the name of a site, I can tell you if it's backbone or not. But if it's not a backbone site, I can't tell you whether it supports this configuration of PEERS NAMES/LINKSWT FILE or suchlike. A backbone site is by definition up to date enough for me to know what it can take and what it can't take. Now how do you expect me to remember which release of LISTSERV removed this or that restriction, especially when I no longer have the code to check it out? Even if I could remember, how can I implement this technically? I can't create a filelist peered with all 1.5f servers, one for 1.5g, 1.5h, and so on. Eric
