We are experiencing a lot of mailing loops recently, and I'm getting upset, and want something done. I am not pointing the finger at any one. We need a concerted effort to create an environment that can handle the problems. One suggestion has been the addition of a Reject-To: tag. I also think we need to look at an tag that identifies a mail as being automatically generated. In the message arena, GONE, Mailer 1.25 and several others all start automated messages with an *, just so they don't start message wars. We NEED something like this to stop these mail wars. There are been 4 in the last month alone that I know of. SAS-L to PSUVAX1, WISCVM shutting down, SERVERS last night, and UOTTAWA's file has been purged message. (Granted this one has a 30 day hold time in its war, but it still is a war) When Bill Rubin was working on the automated messages about WISCVM shutting down, he was willing to put something in, but there was nothing. UOTTAWA has always been very receiptive to fixing the loop, and I'm sure they would conform to a standard, but there is NO standard. I'm tired of coming into work and finding 200 mail files caused by a mail war. If you have any ideas, let's get them out now. Rather than Listserv being the one following, and causing problems, let's be active in solving a very real problem, not spouting forth RFCs that people are not following. Harry
