I just had an interesting manual show up on my desk. It's the DIRMAINT General Information manual for Release 4 (GC20-1836-5). It looks like it addresses many of my problems with the current release of DIRMAINT. However (quoting page 23, "Installation Consideration"): Preinstillation Checkout The use of DIRMAINT induces a restriction on special characters that can appear in a user identification. Only those characters allowed in a CMS file name (A through Z, 0 through 9, @, #, $) are permitted. Prior to installation, you should review all user IDs in your directory to ensure that none of the special characters other than @, #, $ are present. I think this is gonna choke up a LOT of Listserv lists (including this one) if sites start installing DIRMAINT R4. Any ideas? Valdis Kletnieks Sr. Systems Programmer Clarkson University
